Signatures of President Zachary Taylor and His Entire Cabinet

This is the first time we have seen one sheet of paper with the signatures of Taylor and his Cabinet

Zachary Taylor had just a brief one year as president before his untimely death in 1850. That is why autographs of his as president are so uncommon. He had seven men in his Cabinet: John M. Clayton was Secretary of State, and had a term in the U.S. Senate afterwards; William M. Meredith was Secretary of the Treasury, and later held offices in Pennsylvania; Thomas Ewing was Secretary of the Interior, and served in the U.S. Senate afterwards; George Crawford was Secretary of War, and later became a successful businessman; William Ballard Preston was Secretary of the Navy, and in time served in the Confederate Senate; Jacob Collamer was Postmaster General, and served in the U.S. Senate afterwards; and Reverdy Johnson was Attorney General, later serving in the U.S. Senate and as American ambassador to Great Britain.

This is the first time we have ever seen one sheet of paper with the signatures of Taylor and his entire Cabinet. It is truly a rarity.
