Composer of movie scores for many great films including Star Wars, Jaws, E.T., Schindler’s List and Raiders of the Lost Ark, nominated for 18 Academy Awards and winner of 4.
Typed Letter Signed, 1 page 8vo, letterhead of the Boston Pops, no date but circa 1980, to noted collector Selwyn Gamble. "…Enclosed please find a pencil (one of many!) used to write the score to STAR WARS. Sorry, I don’t happen to have any batons at the moment that I am not using. I hope the pencil will do…" The pencil, a well used Eagle Electronic Scorer, is included. It is interesting to note that the eraser is only slightly used, indicating that Williams didn’t have to make many corrections. This is the only pen or pencil used to write an important movie score that we can recall being offered. You might use it for one of your own important projects.
