Autograph Letter Signed, Cambridge, February 5, 1876. “It gives me sincere pleasure to comply with your request. In fact I esteem it a great compliment that you should care enough for my autograph to send so far for it. Instead of you thanking me, I must thank you for your kind expression of sympathy and good will. With this I take the liberty of sending you two poems on Italian subjects [not present], which perhaps may interest you, as expressing my delight in Italy.”
