The Democratic Book was given to the delegates at the 1936 Democratic Convention in Philadelphia. It contained information such as the party’s platform, election results, and statements from President Roosevelt, his cabinet members, the First Lady, and other important members of his administration. Some of the copies, sold as a fundraiser, included a beautiful hand colored engraving of the White House signed by FDR. Over the years, many of the engravings were removed from the books to be framed for display. This is one of those autographed, colored engravings. The entire page is 11 by 17 inches, the image and signature taking up about half of that room.
