Rare wax Great Seal of Queen Victoria presented with a large, elaborately illustrated patent granted to Charles, William and Richard Vaughan. Housed in a metal case, the seal measures 7 inches in diameter and depicts Queen Victoria on the Royal Throne flanked by two ladies in waiting. On the other side is the Queen on horseback. Partially printed on vellum, the patent is dated November 8 1856 and grants to the Vaughans the rights to a “new or improved strap or band for working stamps, raising weights, and transmitting power generally.”
