Artist and illustrator renowned for his portrayals of early American architecture (particularly covered bridges, barns and homes dating to the colonial era) and tools. The ultimate tribute to his insight and artistic ability in creating wonderful skyscapes is his huge, specially- commissioned mural in the National Air and Space Museum at the Smithsonian.
His book, The Sound of Bells, 1966, containing amazing drawings of and information about bells, inscribed and signed to a noted collector, “An out of print rare book to a rare fellow, Selwin C. Gamble, Eric Sloane, 1973.”
Sloane has added an original sketch of a bell. Our research indicates that the book is indeed rare, with unsigned copies selling for a few hundred dollars.
