The Luecht Historical Collection Encourages Public Engagement

Longtime Raab clients, Mike and Judy Luecht, are sharing their private collection of historical documents with the greater Chicago community

The Raab Collection is pleased to share exciting news from long-standing clients Mike and Judy Luecht, with their permission: The Luecht Historical Collection, containing more than 160 historical documents, has been relocated to McHenry County College (MCC) in Crystal Lake, Illinois.

The Luechts’ collection, built over nearly 25 years, contains important presidential documents, highlighting significant moments in U.S. and world history. Now they want to share that collection in a way that will encourage constructive public dialogue and civil discourse, the exchange of ideas, education, social interaction, and leadership development.

The relocation of the collection to an educational institution will help to achieve their goals, and we at Raab are immensely proud to have played a role in helping to guide the Luechts on their collecting journey.

As Nathan Raab, president of The Raab Collection, commented in a press release: “The Luechts have assembled a world-class collection of historical documents that would be an asset to any organization. This gift of exhibiting it on a long-term basis is a clear demonstration of their continued dedication to universal access to education.”

In its new dedicated space on the MCC campus, The Luecht Historical Collection will be available to faculty for use with students, in special events and lectures, and for community groups, including K-12 students and teachers, according to the college’s president. A special preview of the collection will be held in late January, followed by a variety of opportunities for students, faculty, and community organizations to engage with the collection and its pieces.
