Raab in the Press: James Madison & Haym Salomon

When The Raab Collection recently announced that it would offer for sale a rare sheet from James Madison’s Revolutionary War-era ledger detailing the contributions of Jewish financier Haym Salomon, a man who gave his fortune to support the Patriotic cause, it garnered much media interest. 

In fact, the news echoed around the world:

The Jerusalem Post: “Historic James Madison ledger revealing Jewish patriot’s role in American Revolution hits market after decade-long museum display” 

The Times of Israel: “Surviving page from James Madison’s ledger shows contribution of Haym Salomon, a Sephardic Jewish immigrant from Poland, who gave equivalent of $23m to revolutionary cause”

Forward: “Haym Salomon was also one of the founders and main donors to Mikveh Israel, a Philadelphia synagogue still active today, nicknamed the ‘Synagogue of the American Revolution’”
