The Raab Collection announced that it has discovered and sold a historically important and previously unknown cache of documents and correspondence related to the colonial-era Congregationalist ministers Eleazar Wheelock and Jonathan Edwards which provides new insight into both the financial grounding of what became Dartmouth College and ongoing pastoral issues within the Great Awakening. The items were passed down though generations of the Wheelock and Allen families by descent, and have been acquired directly from the current heirs.
Among the documents are rare letters of Jonathan Edwards and his father, other early American manuscripts, and a founding document in the history of what is today Dartmouth. These were not previously known to exist.
