“We are approached frequently by those who wish to reference a document we have sold or publish the contents of something that we discovered.”
Raab announced that, beginning with new items listed in 2022, it will apply a unique identifier meant to make it easier for researchers, publications, and institutional representatives to reference a document for sale or sold by Raab. The number, which will apply to each document and will be publicly visible on many, will appear within the body of the description in blue font, such as the below. Moreover, for the purpose of online reference, all links will remain permanent in their original form, absent the price.
Reference for research, publication, and institutions: Raab M13.078
“We are approached frequently by those who wish to reference a document we have sold or publish the contents of something that we discovered,” said Nathan Raab, President of The Raab Collection and author of The Hunt for History (Scribner 2020). “The old systems of reference, as applied to modern manuscripts, are antiquated and no longer serve their original purpose. This system is representative both of new forms of media, the ubiquity of online sales, and requests we receive on a weekly basis.”
