Maj. George K. Leet was on Gen. U.S. Grant’s staff throughout the Civil War. He collected signed images, and one of those in his collection was an Alexander Gardner CDV of Andrew Johnson. The legend identifies Johnson as “Pres’t U.S.,” and considering what time frames Leet would have had access to Johnson, this was clearly signed as President.
