Document Signed as president, large folio on vellum, with an eagle at top and nautical images below, Washington, July 2, 1864, appointing Goldsborough to his Assistant Paymaster post. This is a somewhat uncommon Lincoln naval appointment, and is countersigned by Secretary of the Navy Gideon Welles. We just obtained this document from a descendant of the Goldsborough family, and it has never before been offered for sale.
